At Carpentier, we understand the importance of fire safety, especially when it comes to façade cladding. That is why we offer a range of timber cladding profiles with or without fire-retardant treatment, meeting D and/or B reaction to fire standards.
On August 20, 2024, rules covering reaction to fire classes for timber cladding changed. The European Commission decided that, from now on, the Certified Without Further Testing (CWFT) table would only apply to “untreated” wood products. What this means in practice is that cladding made from timber that has undergone a process to make it more durable no longer meets the conditions to be included on the CWFT table.
According to the new rules, treated timber profiles must undergo testing to determine their fire class. Furthermore, architects, entrepreneurs and property developers are required to present a valid reaction to fire classification certificate if they want to use these profiles for cladding.
You can avoid these tests by choosing cladding from our fire-retardant timber range. We already have the required reaction to fire rating reports for these profiles. The reports are available online and can be easily downloaded using your personal login. It is also possible to apply a fire-retardant treatment to other timber profiles so that they meet the desired reaction to fire standard.
With our decision tree you will quickly find the façade solution that suits your project. A glance is all you need to see which wood varieties and finishes meet the required fire reaction class for each type of building. Then you can consult the wood varieties and profiles available in our range. You will find the prices for our fire-retardant cladding separately, below, grouped by reaction to fire class.
